The Fiji Volleyball Federation (FVF) is an independent National Sports Federation that develops, supports and invests in indoor and beach volleyball at all levels. It was established in 1970 as a non-profit organisation committed to the service of the sports community.
The federation began with four affiliated members (Suva, Nasinu, Lautoka & Nadi) and around 500 players. Today, this has grown to 24 associations located across Viti Levu and Vanua Levu.
Volleyball has increased in popularity seen in its visibility in every village and suburb making it one of the most common recreational sports played by Fijians.
Fiji's National Indoor team was first represented at an international tournament in 1963 at the South Pacific Games. The National Women's Team first won a medal (silver) at the 1990 Oceania Games with the men's team winning its first medal (bronze) at the 1995 South Pacific Games.
FVF has been involved in an exchange program with the Sydney Lions Club and have invited Australian clubs and American college teams to play our national side over the years.
It has grown from strength to strength with spectators and participation increasing every year both recreationally and competitively.
FVF is affiliated to the following recognized bodies:
- Federation of the International Volleyball (FIVB),
- Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC),
- Oceania Volleyball Zonal Association
- Fiji Association of Sports & National Olympic Committee (FASANOC)
