Wishing them the best, H.E Ratu Wiliam told the athletes to continue to be themselves no matter the challenges they will face during competition.
“When you leave the gate of State House today, do go out with the passion of a person who dreamed of representing our country at this level,” he said.
Ratu Wiliame also encouraged new members of Team Fiji to look to the more experienced names in the team for inspiration and also realise that they were also household names now that they are part of Team Fiji.
“Go and live your dream. My prayers are with you, the Vanua's prayers are with you, the support of the whole Government is with you, so go and do your best and I wish you well."
A total of 72 nations will participate in this year’s Commonwealth which will be held at Birmingham in the United Kingdom.
5,054 athletes are expected to participate in 280 events in 20 sports.
Team Fiji will participate in 12 sports that includes Athletics, Boxing, Judo, Lawn Bowls, Rugby Sevens, Squash, Swimming, Table Tennis, Triathlon, Weightlifting and Para Sports.
Team Fiji has accumulated a total of 19 medals since its participation in 1938.
The games will officially begin on the 28th of this month and conclude on the 8th of August.
