Josaia Tuinamata Appointed Chef de Mission for Team Fiji to the 2025 Pacific Mini Games

Team Fiji is delighted to announce the appointment of Josaia Tuinamata as the Chef de Mission (CdM) for the upcoming 2025 Pacific Mini Games. The Games will be held in Koror, Palau, from June 29 to July 9, 2025.

Fondly known as Master Joe, Tuinamata will take on the pivotal leadership role of guiding and supporting Team Fiji as they prepare for one of the most significant regional sporting events of the year. His appointment is a reflection of Fiji’s commitment to fostering excellence, teamwork and sportsmanship - values that are at the core of the nation’s sporting culture.

Master Joe brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served in various leadership capacities with Team Fiji, including as Section Manager and General Manager. This will be his first Games as Chef de Mission, where he will lead the contingent as its head. With extensive knowledge and practical experience in athletics and weightlifting, Tuinamata has held leadership positions within the respective National Federations. He is also a certified OSEP (Oceania Sport Education Program) coach, further adding to his qualifications and strong background in sports management.

The Pacific Mini Games is a key event in the Pacific sporting calendar, bringing together athletes and officials from across the region to compete in a spirit of unity and camaraderie. As Chef de Mission, Tuinamata will oversee Team Fiji’s preparations, ensuring that every athlete and official is ready to represent the nation with pride and determination.

Speaking about his appointment, Tuinamata expressed his gratitude and excitement for the opportunity:

I am committed to working closely with our athletes, coaches, and officials to ensure Team Fiji's fully prepared to perform at its very best on the international stage. Fiji’s sporting leadership has expressed confidence in Tuinamata’s ability to lead Team Fiji to success at the Games.

Mr. Tuinamata has had excellent exposure in managing athletes and officials on tour as part of Team Fiji. Furthermore, he has extensive experience in managing both able-bodied and para-athletes, as well as officials, during previous tours. I wish Mr. Tuinamata and his team all the very best as he leads the preparation and participation of Team Fiji to represent our nation in Palau later this year."
