FASANOC would like to express its condolences to the family of Hon. Sprent Dabwido from Nauru, who has passed away at the age of 46 earlier this month, after losing a battle against throat cancer.
Hon. Dabwido was the former President of the Republic of Nauru, past President of the Nauru Weightlifting Federation and an international weightlifter during his younger years.
He competed at many international events, including the World Championships in Thailand in 1997.
The Oceania Weightlifting Federation described Hon. Dabwido as committed to his country, honest and had good values of life.
"Nauru has lost not only a gentleman, but a true Nauruan, a man who truly cared for his people. "For those who knew Sprent well, would remember him as a happy and fun loving individual."
