TEAM FIJI CHEF DE MISSION VACANCIES

FASANOC (Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee) is seeking a Chef de Mission to lead and oversee Team Fiji's preparation and participation at the upcoming regional and global sporting events

The objective of the Chef de Mission role is to ensure that Team Fiji to each of the Games is presented with all the opportunities and the support services it needs to produce medal winning performances and bring glory to our nation.

The position represents a unique, challenging opportunity for the right person. The successful candidate will have significant experience in similar positions, strong motivational skills, high-level management skills and excellent communication skills. Strong leadership is mandatory and experience in sporting team management roles and previous involvement with Team Fiji will be an advantage, as well as any Oceania Sports Education Program (OSEP) sports administration certification.

Key Responsibilities

The Chef de Mission will:

1. Provide Leadership: Inspire and manage athletes, coaches, officials, and support teams, fostering a positive team culture.

2. Plan and Coordinate: Oversee all aspects of Team Fiji’s participation, including pre-event preparations, travel logistics, and on-site event management.

3. Safeguard Athletes: Uphold the highest standards of safeguarding, ensuring the safety, well-being, and integrity of all team members.

4. Act as a Liaison: Represent Team Fiji at official meetings and act as the main point of contact between FASANOC, event organizers, and stakeholders.

5. Monitor Performance: Encourage peak performance while providing the necessary support for athletes to excel in a high-pressure environment.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

• Proven experience in team or event management, preferably in sports.

• Ability to work effectively under pressure and handle complex logistics.

• Knowledge of safeguarding policies and a commitment to upholding athlete welfare.

• A strong understanding of Fiji’s sporting landscape and its cultural dynamics.
