Team Fiji thrower, Brieanna Rabakewa acknowledged the tremendous support from her family as she won a bronze in the Women's Discus at her first Pacific Games in Honiara, Solomon Islands.
The 16 year old Lomaiviti lass said it was a great experience especially competing with other countries and make new friends.
"I hardly make new friends because I don't usually talk to new people.
"But my mother told me to try and talk to and make new friends and this would make me feel good before I throw.
"So I would go around introducing myself to all the other athletes and hopefully I made some friends for life," she said.
Brieanna thanked her massive family support back in Fiji and abroad for helping her achieve a dream to represent the country.
The Swami Vivekananda College student threw 42.57metres, breaking her personal best of 33 metres.
Fellow teammate and Jumper Laisani Hacere also won a bronze medal in the Women's High Jump event.
"I would like to thank my family members for their support and I hope to use this medal as motivation to earn a gold at the next games," she said.
Laisani had a best jump of 1.60m while Teanavai Perez of Team Tahiti secured gold with a jump of 1.63m.
Meanwhile long distance Runner Yeshnil Karan secure Team Fiji another gold medal in the men’s 5000m race with a time of 15:14:89.
